How to Add MercadoPago as a Payment Method

MercadoPago is a popular payment gateway in Latin America that allows users to make online transactions. It supports various payment methods, including credit cards and local options, offering flexibility and security for businesses and customers.

Getting Credentials

Before adding Mercadopago as a payment gateway, log in to your Mercadopago account to obtain the Access Token and Public Key.

1. By accessing Your integrations > "Your application" > Production > Production credentials.

Adding a Payment Provider

Go to Settings > Payment providers in your admin area. Then click Add payment provider and choose Mercadopago

Adding details

Scroll down to the page and complete the necessary fields.

1. Enter a display name.
2. Click the Test Mode and select the option No.
3. Enter the Access Token and Public Key.
4. You might Test Credentials and it will show Successful authentication!
5. Add currency.
6. Enter payment instructions (optional)
7. Click Create

Notes

When setting up MercadoPago in Upmind, you must select only one currency that matches the currency of your MercadoPago account (e.g., MercadoPago Colombia → COP).

If you have multiple accounts for different currencies, set up each account separately with its respective credentials and currency (e.g., MercadoPago Argentina → ARS).

Editing the payment method

You can change or update the payment method. Go to the Payment Providers page, click the three dots, and select Edit.
