How to Add PayPal Express as a Payment Method
Set up PayPal Express to take payments in Upmind
PayPal is a popular payment method. In this guide, we set up PayPal Express, which is the most common PayPal implementation. There are a couple of different PayPal integration options. PayPal Pro, for instance, is essentially a payment gateway.
You will require:
- A PayPal account
- An Upmind account
Getting API credentials from PayPal
- Log into PayPal and go to Account Settings on the top right.
- Click
API Access
>Update
. - Scroll down to
Custom checkout experience
>NVP/SOAP API Integration (Classic)
and click Manage API credentials. - You will see a screen like this. Copy the API Username, API Password, and Signature, then paste them into the Upmind configuration.

Adding a payment provider
In Upmind, navigate to Settings
>Payment providers
. Then click Add payment provider
.
Choose PayPal Express
.

Adding details
Scroll down the page and add details.
- Enter a display name. We suggest PayPal.
- Click the Test Mode field and select No.
- Enter the account information (API username, password, and signature).
- Click the Test Credentials button to verify your account.
- Add currencies (optional).
- Enter payment instructions. (optional)
- Click Create.
Editing the payment method
You can change or update the payment method. Go to the Payment Providers page, click the three dots, and select Edit.
